Girls' Country Night Out

The girls hit Wild Horse Pass this weekend for KMLE's Country Thunder Launchfest.  It was an outdoor concert with several acts, all promoting Country Thunder, an April festival in Florence, Arizona.  Stacy's mom, Sue, came too!

Twenty dollar seats were out in the dirt, but the Samours ain't havin' that.  We spent a few more dollars for the front section, with chair provided, and when we felt like standing, we could stand right at the stage.  Perfect!

First up was Lucy Hale, an actress in Pretty Little Liars, who also now sings country music!

The second act was this cutie, John King, who currently has a hit on the radio called "Tonight Tonight."  He knows how to rock, let me tell ya.

Lucky Sienna got to meet him in between his and Cassadee's set.  Jealous!!!

The headliner was Cassadee Pope, The Voice Winner (Season 3), and female vocalist.  She was awesome!

We have her album and know all her songs, so we sang right along with her from the front row!  Bonus - we got to meet her too!

She was adorable and sweet, and said, "I saw you singing along!"

We got her autograph too!  Yay!

14!

This little cutie turned 14!

He's pretty excited about it!

Decorations start at the front door,

and go into the entryway.

Poor Spenser had to "work" on his birthday, from 8 a.m. til 8 p.m.  His day started with a percussion clinic in the morning at Highland High School, and a marching band competition at Mesquite High in the afternoon.

Finally that evening, he got to open presents.

Then it was time for cake, in his case, a cookie cake.

Today is his official birthday party, with members of the drum-line coming over for a sleep-over.  He's also on Fall Break, so yes, it's party time!

Go Robby, it's your Birthday

We started Rob's birthday celebration with attendance at Mass, and we all know what a special gift for Rob that is.  Normally he's all alone at Sunday service, and to have his whole family with him was like celebrating a holiday!

After church we had lunch and then headed home for a practice session.

Birthday dinner was Chili's and then home for Carvel cake.

After cake Rob opened presents as we lounged and watched from the "new" red couch.

Happy 46th!

Spirit Week Highlights

It was Spirit Week and Homecoming at my school, Higley High.  It started momentously with a Monday storm, courtesy of Norbert, who pounded the valley with rain and flooding.  Spenser always dreamed of having a swimming pool.  It finally came true as the park became Lake Creekwood Ranch.  He and Drew had fun frolicking in it after school.

I participated in Spirit Week every day.  Monday was Pajama Day.

Tuesday was Twin Day.

Wednesday was Workout Day.

Thursday was Travel/Tourist Day.

Friday was Higley Pride Day.

Saturday night was the Homecoming Dance, and I had duty.

It was a fun way to spend a Saturday night!

Earlier that day, we said goodbye to our original (and very old-fashioned) furniture set that my parents bought us for our wedding.

We donated it to the Perry Regiment on Goodwill Day.  They even picked it up for us!

No plans to replace the set, we just brought the red couch downstairs, and will dedicate the loft to our practice sessions.
